Gateway Qualifying Results
It is Joey Logano’s first time at Gateway, and only his fifth attempt at qualifying for a race in the nascar nationwide series. Today Joey Logano was the sixth car to roll out for qualifying at Gateway, in Michigan. He will be driving the Nintendo DS Gamestop Toyota Camry.
In the first practice sessions for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250, Joey Logano was at the top of the speed charts. With a time of 33.910, which equates to a speed of 132.704, he ran a total of 22 laps.
In the final practice session, Joey was 13th fastest, with a time of 34.081, a speed of 132.038, and during the final practice session he ran a total of 37 laps.
During this qualifying run, Joey ran an impressive lap of 34.028. And he ran just a little bit faster on his second lap, 33.97, and with that lap time he puts himself on the provisional pole. Dave Rodgers, radioed to Logano, “Great Lap, you’re the man!”
After his qualifying run, the pit reporters asked Joey “This is a track you never been to before, how do you prepare mentally before making your run?”, and he responded “Pretty much same as any other place, wing it. It’s one of those things just go out there, and give it what its got. The car was pretty good, I was still a little bit loose in the corners, I am not sure if that lap time will hold up or not.”
Joey also said that he has playing paying with his nintendo ds most of the day. And said that he loves racing, and it is what loves to do.
In the end of the qualifying session, joey would wind up in the fourth qualifying position. As Last year’s winner Reed Sorenson took the second position. Reed’s time was a 33.81, and ran .16 seconds faster than Logano. Later on in the event, Jaime McMurray, locked himself into the field by taking the Pole, with a speed of 133.101.
The green flag for the race will wave in about 3 hours, on ESPN2 at 9pm Eastern Time!
Can Joey Logano pull of his second win in just five starts? I think he has a great chance, and could very well do it go Joey!
